“Some of my earliest memories are filled with music. Singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody with a kettle lead for a mic when I was five to learning the bass guitar so I could be the next Mark King, I love all kinds of music and always felt the need to sing or play along with whatever instrument I liked the sound of. I also loved to draw and paint anything and everything and now consider myself lucky that my graphic design, photography and singing careers all come from things I loved doing as a kid.
Being on Stars in Their Eyes was a surreal and scary experience for me considering I wasn’t a singer or never even entered myself in for it in the first place, but my daft karaoke rendition of Bowie’s China Girl had my friends thinking it was good enough to get me on the biggest TV show at the time. I nervously pursued it and did better than I ever thought by winning my show. I also had the chance to sing one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite singers. Even though I felt and looked completely ridiculous, that show changed my life and the overwhelming reaction from audiences helps me to continue on my musical journey.
A huge thank you to everyone who have supported me throughout my singing career.”
“Anyone wanting to have the best singer and entertainer at their event must look no further than Mikey Powell. What an amazing night we all had at my wedding – even guests at the Hotel commented on his singing. One of my guests recorded a song he was singing and played it back – He could not believe how close to the real thing he sounded. An outstanding tribute act and the nicest person we had the pleasure to meet. Everyone was up dancing to his unbelievable talent. We would recommend him without a doubt as one of the best. Thank you Mikey, you are a star x”
