ENGELBERT TRIBUTE
Arnold George Dorsey, or known to many by the more kitschy moniker of Engelbert Humperdinck hasn’t had the recognition he truly deserved, probably because of that ridiculous name, but this guy can sing with effortless power, superb phrasing and precision.
Famous for such hits as ‘Quando, Quando, Quando’ and ‘Release Me’, his 60s catalogue has an intoxicating, heady and romantic atmosphere that conjured up more exotic imagery than his more conservative contemporaries. I have total admiration for the man after singing songs in his style. It’s certainly not easy by any stretch and one slip can land you in some serious pub singer territory.
Below are examples of songs that feature as part of my vocal tributes show. I will be adding more songs from time to time so please keep checking if you’d like to hear more. Enjoy!
Les Bicyclettes de Belsize
The Last Waltz
Stardust
