I’ve haven’t sang for a year, so it’s been hard to pick up the microphone again. I wasn’t sure if my voice was still there, but I wanted to record a new song to commemorate ten years since my mum passed away. I can’t believe it’s been that long because it still feels raw, as I’m sure it does for anyone else who’s lost someone very special.
She loved Matt Monro’s voice and I hope I’ve done this song some justice. The song was publicised first in the movie, Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing (1955), winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song. From 1967 to 1973, it was used as the theme song to Love is a Many Splendored Thing, the soap opera based on the movie. The song’s refrain is based on the aria Un bel dì vedremo from Giacomo Puccini’s opera, Madama Butterfly.
Anyway, thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy it.
